Lev Mandel joined Protected Investors of America in 2016. Prior to becoming an advisor, Lev was an instructor of Pre-calculus and Business Design at a public charter school in Berkeley and directed Product Management at Kixeye where he launched two Top 20 games on Facebook.
While Lev has always had a passion both for investing and connecting with others, he found his natural enthusiasm for financial planning while teaching high school math. He built his curriculum so that when he got the popular question “But, Mr. Mandel, when are we going to use this in real life?” the answer could be a definitive, “All the time.”
Since joining Protected Investors of America, Lev’s advisory practice has focused on retirement planning, custom portfolio strategies, social security and pension analysis, employee stock options, and college funding. He especially appreciates working collaboratively with clients and is energized by helping them improve the relationship they have with their money.
Lev, who received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics, is licensed Series 7, General Securities Representative, Series 66, Uniform Combined State Law and holds a California Insurance License. He has authored four peer-reviewed research articles in highly-visible scholarly journals.
Lev is a member of the Financial Planning Association of the East Bay and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Street Smarts, an Oakland based non-profit dedicated to providing opportunities for historically disadvantaged youth to explore financial management. He lives in Pleasant Hill with his wife Courtney and their two sons Ezra and Ezekiel. He loves to travel, go hiking with his family, listen to his two-year-old talk about dinosaurs, and play basketball.
